Nice to meet you! I'm John Winton.
I grew up in the San Francisco, California. I am an incoming first-year medical student at Thomas Jefferson University's Sidney Kimmel Medical College. I studied undergraduate pre-medicine at Penn State University as part of their accelerated BS-MD program in collaboration with SKMC. I am currently an undergraduate research assistant in the Sleep, Health, and Genetics Lab at Penn State, as well as in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at UCSF.
I like to work with my hands, and I create paintings, woodwork, and pottery on the side. I am currently exploring and learning more about the surgical fields in medicine. I see surgery as the perfect combination of my love for science and for the hands-on creativity of visual fine arts.
I love dogs and have a poodle mix named Sammi at home. Whenever I travel, I will be sure to pick up a map to add to my collection. I love a foggy, gloomy day and walks in the rain.
